2009 Europeans - Day 3 - Ireland v Great Britain |
|
Despite some good play by the Irish, reigning European Champions, Great Britain, were too strong. Ireland faced their first challenge in this European Championships head on and put on a good display against the giants of European Wheelchair Rugby, Great Britain. It was a great opportunity for new coach, Justin Frishberg, to try out some line ups in preparation for the later stages of the tournament when Ireland will need to have their strongest line ups firing. Great Britain started with their strongest line and easily took the lead in the first quarter. Ireland continued to battle on throughout the game and managed to hold GB even in the final two quarters of the game keeping them to a final score of 33 - 49. Next up Finland this evening, with players looking forward to the game.
