What Equipment Do We Need
Equipment
Equipment is a vital aspect in the game of wheelchair rugby and the Gaelic Warriors have a number of chairs available for new players to try.

Wheelchairs; Players compete in manual wheelchairs.  The rules of the sport include detailed specifications for the wheelchairs to ensure safety and fairness; in international competition, all wheelchairs must meet these requirements.Wheelchairs are considered to be an extension of the athlete. Wheelchairs must meet safety guidelines to ensure that they will not cause harm to the other athletes.

Wheelchairs must not be modified in any way that would give an athlete an unfair mechanical advantage over other players. For example, brakes, steering devices and gears are not permitted on the chair.

Ball; The game is played with a white ball identical in size and shape to a regulation volleyball.

Goals; In addition to the ball, four cones, or other similar markers are required to mark the ends of the goal lines.

Alternating Possesion Device; A device to implement the alternate possession procedure. Either an arrow or cone can be used.

Timing Devices: There shall be provided a suitable timing device to record the following time lapses:

  • Periods of Play

  • 40 Second Clock
